The Gatsby Project
Using Math to Throw More Parties
About
Gatsby plans parties with your friends & friends of friends
Each week, Gatsby will generate a new party with a theme based on your social circles' interests, worldview, hobbies, etc., and it'll handle invites, location, and more

Everyone chips in to make the party happen
Each attendee will be assigned an item to bring and/or any instructions for the theme so that no one is bearing the brunt of the work
A network of parties that sustains itself, every weekend
All you have to do is commit to hosting your friends & friends of friends in your dorm room/building at most once every 2 months, and Gatsby will take care of the rest

Algorithm
Party Theme
Gatsby will generate a theme for the party based on your social circles' interests, worldview, hobbies, etc. Based on the theme, the party attendees will be asked to bring some item and/or follow instructions to make the party possible.
Guest List
Think of the following "connection scores": friend = 1, friend of friend = 2, friend of friend of friend = 3, etc. Gatsby will generate guest lists such that the average connection score is optimal for the theme.
Hosting
Someone in your network of friends and friends of friends will be asked to host each week. Each person will at most have to host once every 2 months but will always have the option to decline hosting during a given week. Hosts will be able to see the whole guest list before deciding whether to accept hosting.
